Static website
Playlists for Life is delivered as a static website. It does not include an account system or contact form. The site uses cookieless GoatCounter analytics and, only after your opt-in, Google Analytics 4, which sets analytics cookies. The site is hosted by Strato AG, Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7, 10249 Berlin, Germany. As hosting provider, Strato may process standard request data such as IP address, time, requested URL, referrer, and user agent in security and access logs (legal basis: Art. 6 (1) f GDPR — secure and reliable operation of the site).
GoatCounter
We use GoatCounter, an open-source web analytics service, to count page views and a few events in aggregate: starting a Spotify player, completing the playlist finder, adding an item to the shop cart or going to checkout, and arriving from an AI answer engine (recorded as the name of the engine and the language of the page). The counting script is served from this site and neither stores nor reads anything on your device — no cookies, no local storage, no device or browser characteristics — so we use it without asking for consent.
For each page view or event, your browser sends GoatCounter the page path and title, the address of the page you came from (referrer) and the URL query string. As with any request on the internet, GoatCounter also receives your IP address and your browser’s user agent. According to GoatCounter, neither is stored: the country is derived from the IP address and the browser and operating system from the user agent; to recognise repeat visits, a hash of site, IP address and user agent is kept in memory for up to eight hours and replaced by a random identifier. No cross-site tracking takes place. GoatCounter is operated by Martin Tournoij, Ireland; the data is stored on servers of Hetzner Online GmbH in Germany and Finland. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding aggregate use of the site — including how many visitors arrive from AI answer engines — and in improving it (Art. 6 (1) f GDPR). You can object at any time, for example by blocking requests to playlistsforlife.goatcounter.com in your browser.
Google Analytics 4
With your explicit consent, we use Google Analytics 4 under measurement ID G-NKSNXMYT8B. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Google Analytics 4 is loaded only after you opt in. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6 (1) a GDPR and § 25 (1) TDDDG. The service sets the cookies _ga and _ga_*, which may remain for up to two years. According to Google, Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. Data may be transferred to Google LLC in the USA on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. You can withdraw your consent at any time, with effect for the future, through the “Cookie settings” link in the footer. For more information, see Google’s privacy policy.
Storage in your browser
This site sets no cookies of its own. It uses your browser’s local storage only for functions you trigger yourself:
pfl-consent: your choice in the consent banner and when you made it, written when you click a button in the banner so the banner does not reappear on every page; it is removed when you open “Cookie settings” in the footer.pfl.fwCartIdandpfl.fwCartCount: the ID of your Fourthwall shopping cart and the number of items in it, written only when you add an item to the cart so your cart persists between visits.
This storage is strictly necessary to provide a function you have expressly requested (§ 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG); the processing that follows is based on Art. 6 (1) b and f GDPR. You can delete these entries at any time in your browser settings.
Outbound redirects
Links under /go/ route a click through a noindex page and then to Spotify, YouTube, or Apple Music. The destination platform receives the normal request information your browser sends.
Spotify embeds
Spotify players are not loaded with the page. If a verified playlist ID is available and you choose to activate a player, your browser connects to Spotify and Spotify’s policies apply. Until that click, the visible cover is served locally.
Merch shop
Product data for the merch shop under /shop/ is fetched from Fourthwall’s Storefront API at build time and served from this site. When you add an item to your cart or open the cart page, your browser sends requests directly to Fourthwall’s Storefront API, which can include your IP address and the contents of your cart; product images shown in the cart are loaded from Fourthwall’s image servers rather than from this site. Your cart ID is kept in your browser’s local storage (see “Storage in your browser”). Checkout and payment happen entirely on Fourthwall’s own domain, under Fourthwall’s privacy policy; the checkout link tells Fourthwall that you came from this site. The legal basis for these shop requests is Art. 6 (1) b GDPR, as steps you request before a purchase, and our legitimate interest in offering merch alongside the site’s content (Art. 6 (1) f GDPR).

This site links to Bryzant, Wikidata, MusicBrainz, and music platforms. Visiting those services is governed by their respective privacy policies.
